A Unique Exchange Between Mother and Son

This book contains an exchange between mother and son. It was the idea of the mother to invite her son to a conversation “on paper.” She liked the idea and thought that it would be an interesting journey to see how she, as a woman of 70, would express her thoughts compared to the ideas of her 41 year old son expressed on the same topics. The wide range of topics includes 22 chapters. To mention a few, we see them dive into the encounter of daily activities, disillusions in the form of inner pain, how grace is woven through life, how endurance calls them into the rediscovery of strength, how tenderness embraces their souls, how intention plays an important role, how the past keeps knocking on today’s door, how the mystery keeps them alert, how gratitude graces their lives with its rewarding smile, how the ups and downs are a natural phenomenon in life, how inspiration guides them, and how waiting can be experienced and seen in a gentle way, etc., etc. They not only just write about these subjects, but quite often it is interspersed by beautiful poems. Both are poets in their own right. It allows for a deeper insight into their individual souls to delve into the melody of their poetic words. It is a unique communication between two souls, who happen to be mother and son. Through this beautiful project, they once again discover how their souls are deeply connected and their hearts richly strewn by an intense love for each other.

Jeannette kicks off a subject such as "Intention" with a simple, straightforward story of waking up and groggily asking what the day may have in store and coming to the realization, "I want to feel joy today." My story begins in Europe. I was born and raised in The Netherlands, where I spent my first 25 years. Looking for wider pastures, grander horizons, and endless open beaches, my wings took me to the coast of California. To me, life has been one endless adventure with many different facets. It calls to mind what I once told my father when he asked me what I wanted to do when I grew up... my immediate answer was : “A little bit of everything!” And so it turned out to be just that! My years took me on a path of being a wife and full-time mother, with roller coaster rides of sincere challenges of many flavors and colors. It took me through many moves and different states. Life’s path made me dive into the search for deeper meanings, and therefore, I came upon a variety of teachers, lecturers, and philosophers. My restless artistic intuition allowed me to become an avid painter at the age of 50, selling just about all that I created. Lo and behold, at age 60, I revived my artistic desires by becoming a professional flamenco dancer, which had been my wish since I was about twenty years old... but I had abandoned that road at that point. Now, at the age of 70, my innate longing for writing has taken over and this time, I have the great good fortune to share this road with my beloved son. And so my life has indeed brought me a little bit of everything... and I find it quite glorious...

Hi all, welcome to our little corner of the internet! I was born in Colorado, but raised in California. I also lived 7 years in NYC and over 10 in Virginia. My mother started me on a spiritual path at a very young age and through her deep, unconditional love, she instilled within me a desire to always try to be my best self. This journey that she helped me to begin has led me down many unique and adventurous travels and travails, an endless search for more depth and meaning. I've spent many years in so-called spiritual places, deepening in my capacity to understand my nature, which in turn has led me to many insights into the nature of being human in general. I continue to strengthen in my ability to love and feel peace. It is my sincere yearning to leave this world a more loving and more peaceful place than the one that I entered into. I am excited for you to join us on our paths of discovery, share in our space of love, and connect with us in ways that are harmonious and beneficial to all. Peace and love.
